ZCS was hired to design a remodel of classrooms at Eagle Point High School to turn them into a technology-focused learning center where the spaces promote a collaborative and adaptive basis for learning. The makerspace programs to be held in the remodeled wing include coding, CNC machining, printing, and lesson plans that explore design and taking projects from concept to reality. The Tech Center creates a bridge between past, present, and future teaching methods and technology.
The river of hexagonal carpet tiles in hues of blue creates a rhythm and flow throughout the technology center classrooms. Maintaining the client’s vision while keeping costs within budget was challenging but accomplished with the design of a few key features, like the folding NanaWall system that connects the main classroom to a smaller adjacent classroom. Glass walls, white floors, and recessed lighting offer a subtle, yet high-tech, aesthetic as you walk into the foyer where student work will be displayed. Accent walls in vibrant blues and yellows juxtapose the minimalist spaces representing the school’s colors and the energetic student population.
