Hawthorne Park is a 20-acre tract of land located in Medford, Oregon where ZCS assisted the City of Medford with a partial renovation. The 7-acre renovation included replacement and expansion of the parking lot on Hawthorne Street, a new dog park, hard surface basketball and multi-use sport courts, natural play and standard equipment playgrounds, a restroom facility, open shelter space, a water play feature, and pedestrian walking paths throughout.
The city envisioned the park as a hub for its community and looked to create park features that could function as individual areas with the possibility to be used in conjunction for larger community events. ZCS was able to massage spatial layouts and get creative with hardscape and landscape interweaving to make this possible. Hawthorne Park now hosts the Rogue Valley Growers Market, one of the largest growers’ markets in Southern Oregon.
