Having outgrown our former Grants Pass office space, we saw an opportunity to adaptively reuse a beautiful historic masonry building downtown and invest in a property for our Grants Pass office. Constructed by a well-known mason who built several larger municipal buildings in the area, the original historic building was one of the first masonry constructed homes in Grants Pass. The building has since lived many lives - a family home, a greyhound bus station, an attorney's practice, and a chiropractic office.
Our intention was to frame the historic building with our new addition. The historic portion now serves as our front entry and main public and meeting spaces. We took care to feature the masonry building on the interior of our office as well by preserving the windows and exposing the exterior brick in our break room and small meeting room. Along with the addition and interior remodel, we seismically retrofitted the historic building and repaired much of the masonry at the exterior. The building addition houses our large studio space for our staff. The tall space lets in ample daylight making it a great place to work.
